Two Collinsville Construction Workers Injured By Negligent Driver

Two roadside workers were injured by a negligent driver in Collinsville, Texas.  A contractor and a Texas Department of Transportation crew were working to repair a guardrail on FM 902.  An elderly man driving a truck drove past a flagger and into the guardrail.  The truck struck a contract worker and a Texas Department of Transportation crew member.  The truck driver claimed that he blacked out before the automobile wreck.

Both construction workers suffered serious injuries.  They were transported via air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

School Child Killed Walking To School

A 5-year old child was killed while walking to school in Kilgore, Texas.  The young boy suffered the wrongful death when walking to his bus stop.  The boy was identified as Jae Michael McNaughton.  A 16-year old boy – James Lane White – was also hit in the automobile collision and required medical treatment.  Jae McNaughton died of his injuries from the wreck at Longview hospital.

28-year old Jesus Martinez Soto was charged with driving without a license and criminally negligent homicide.  School zones are highly regulated with speed limits, police presence and in some cities a cell phone ban.  Even in non-school zones, drivers must be aware of the locations of bus stops and school children.

Drunk Plano Police Officer Crashes Into Another Police Car

An off duty Plano, Texas police officer crashed his vehicle into a police cruiser.  Officer Ray Wildes had a blood alcohol level of .11 when he crashed his truck into Officer Kenneth Foale’s cruiser.  Wildes ran a red light while speeding when the automobile collision with Officer Foale’s car happened.  The blood alcohol content was verified by a blood test conducted two hours after the automobile wreck.  The incident facts were determined by a dash camera.

Officer Foale suffered multiple fractures to his clavicle and a closed head injury.  He may need a shoulder surgery.  The closed head injury may take a substantial time to resolve or result in a permanent disabling condition.

Midland, Texas Auto Death

49 year old Nestor Castro, Jr. was killed in Midland, Texas when a 17 year old ran a stop sign crashing into Castro’s car.  Castro’s vehicle burst into flames resulting in his death.
