Houston Man Killed In South Texas Helicopter Crash

Monday, March 8th, 2010

A helicopter crash during a hunting trip on a ranch in South Texas killed the pilot and the passenger.  The two men were riding in a Robinson R22 when they were killed.  The accident happened at a ranch about 13 miles north of Cotulla in the Dilley area.  The men were hunting hogs from the helicopter.  It is very common in South Texas to manage the hog population on a ranch by hunting them from a helicopter.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the crash victims as Brian Keith  Faglie of Uvalde and Dale Allen Jones of Houston.  Faglie was the pilot.  The National Transportation and Safety Board – NTSB - is invetigating the helicopter crash.

Toyota – Sticking Gas Pedal Recall

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

This week, Toyota announced a defective product recall of a large portion of their small to mid-size sedans and SUVs. Toyota has recalled and suspended sales of quite of these “recalled” vehicles. Obviously, if Toyota has recalled this many cars, this is of serious nature. The gas pedals of these cars involved could stick due to wear and tear on the products chosen during production. Normal friction, normal wear and tear and some environmental issues can cause the pedals to stick. This is a TOTALLY separate recall from the floor mat pedal entrapment issue. Those Toyota vehicles involved in the gas pedal recall are as follows (per the pressroom brief on Toyota.com:

  • Certain 2009-2010 RAV4*
  • Certain 2009-2010 Corolla*
  • 2009-2010 Matrix
  • 2005-2010 Avalon
  • Certain 2007-2010 Camry*
  • Certain 2007-2010 Tundra
  • Certain 2010 HIghlander*
  • 2008-2010 Sequoia

*Highlander and Camry hybrids are NOT involved in this action and will remain for sale. Further, Camry, RAV-4, Corolla and Highlander vehicles with VINs that begin with “J” are NOT involved – Pressroom at Toyota.

Due to the seriousness nature of this recall, and accidents that have already occurred, please contact your nearest Toyota Dealership for further information on your vehicle.
