BP Oil Spill Claims

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

One of the only positive things to come out of the BP oil spill is the creation of new rapid response system for future deep-sea oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico.  Four major oil companies have donated over $1 billion to create this new non-profit joint venture to avoid the severe damage to the Gulf of Mexico waters and coastline in future spills.  The lack of this type of rapid response system at the time of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill partially led to the magnitude of destruction now felt by the coastal cities and towns.

Located in the same state and region as the US headquarters of BP, the Law Firm of Burwell Nebout has extensive experience in the local court system where the majority of BP oil spill claims trials are projected to take place.  The lawyers at Burwell Nebout, with over 37 years of experience representing injured workers, will be invaluable resources to have in the fight for compensation from the BP compensation fund or in any legal action brought for relief.

NHTSA Opens Investigation

Monday, May 24th, 2010

On May 10, the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into whether Toyota Motor Corporation properly notified the agency in a timely fashion once they realized some Toyota vehicles could have a steering relay rod safety defect. Corporations and companies have 5 days to notify the NHTSA upon learning of a defective product of any type.

Toyota had notified the NHTSA of issues with Hilux trucks back in 2004, however shared that the safety defect was isolated to vehicles in Japan and that field information was NOT showing an reports in the U.S. Last Friday, NHTSA was made aware of multiple complaints prior to the 2004 Hilux recall in Japan. Because of this notice, the NHTSA has opened a new investigations. NHTSA Administrator David Strickland said, “NHTSA has taken swift action since first receiving copies of these complaints on Friday. Our team is now working to obtain documents and information from Toyota to find out whether the manufacturer notified NHTSA within five business days of discovering a safety defect in U.S. Vehicles.”

Defective product injuries are serious business. If injuries have been suffered due to a defective product, a personal injury attorney should be contacted. The attorneys at Burwell Nebout Trial Lawyers in Texas City are ready to handle and try cases in Houston, Texas City and Galveston areas.
