Industrial Accident in Pasadena, TX

A chemical leak due to an industrial accident has recently occurred in Pasadena, Texas at 5:15pm today at the AirProducts chemical plant. Pasadena officials have called for a “shelter in place” due to this chemical leak at an industrial facility.

The area under this shelter in place is the area between Hwy 225 and Bearle Road. Emergency official say that this industrial accident has released an unknown amount of nitric oxide into the air. The chemical could cause serious problems with heating and cooling systems in homes and businesses therefore all systems should be shut down. Nitric Oxide can also cause acute respiratory issues.

Industrial Explosion in Angleton Plant Fire

On Thursday afternoon, an Angelton, Texas, industrial plant suffered an industrial explosion. Thermal Polymer Systems had a flash fire resulting in three burn injuries and a serious industrial accident.  The Angleton, Texas based plant specializes in the application of plastic powder coatings.  The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Valero Fire

Valero Texas City Refinery suffered another fire at its Texas City Refinery.  This is the second incident at this refinery in the past few weeks.  The recent explosion resulted in a death and multiple injuries.  At this time, Valero is unclear regarding the cause of the fire.  Although Valero is reporting no injuries, it is too early to determine the validity of these comments since the fire is still burning.

American Acryl Industrial Explosion

The American Acryl chemical plant suffered an industrial explosion this morning.  Located in Seabrook, Texas on Port Road near Highway 146, this chemical plant makes products that are primarily used by Johnson & Johnson.  A shelter in place has been issued for surrounding areas including Seabrook, League City, La Porte, Pasadena and nearby locations in Galveston County and Harris Countyn due to this industrial accident.  The explosion was felt as far away as Pearland and Texas City. This is the second industrial accident and explosion in less than 10 days.

Motiva/Praxair Explosion

Praxair which operates inside Motiva’s Port Arthur refinery suffered an industrial explosion today in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas.  Praxair has initially claimed no injuries.  However, an investigation into the explosion is underway. Multiple industrial accidents have occurred in the area in the past week.

Valero Texas City Explosion

Valero Texas City Refinery suffered an industrial explosion on December 4, 2009, killing at least one person and leaving several dead.  Other injuries will be reported as the investigation is ongoing.
