School Child Killed Walking To School

A 5-year old child was killed while walking to school in Kilgore, Texas.  The young boy suffered the wrongful death when walking to his bus stop.  The boy was identified as Jae Michael McNaughton.  A 16-year old boy – James Lane White – was also hit in the automobile collision and required medical treatment.  Jae McNaughton died of his injuries from the wreck at Longview hospital.

28-year old Jesus Martinez Soto was charged with driving without a license and criminally negligent homicide.  School zones are highly regulated with speed limits, police presence and in some cities a cell phone ban.  Even in non-school zones, drivers must be aware of the locations of bus stops and school children.

Drunk Plano Police Officer Crashes Into Another Police Car

An off duty Plano, Texas police officer crashed his vehicle into a police cruiser.  Officer Ray Wildes had a blood alcohol level of .11 when he crashed his truck into Officer Kenneth Foale’s cruiser.  Wildes ran a red light while speeding when the automobile collision with Officer Foale’s car happened.  The blood alcohol content was verified by a blood test conducted two hours after the automobile wreck.  The incident facts were determined by a dash camera.

Officer Foale suffered multiple fractures to his clavicle and a closed head injury.  He may need a shoulder surgery.  The closed head injury may take a substantial time to resolve or result in a permanent disabling condition.

Drunk Driver Injures Garbage Truck Worker In Santa Fe, Texas

Santa Fe, Texas police arrested a woman for drunk driving when her rearview mirror struck a sanitation worker riding on the back of the garbage truck.  A bystander that witnessed the automobile collision with the garbage truck assisted the police in tracking down the drunk driver.  The impact of the vehicles mirror when it hit the injured worker was so violent that it broke the mirror and slammed it back through the passenger window.

The wreck happened on Highway 6.  Kearston Schoeder was arrested for DWI.  The injured garbage truck worker was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Metro Train and Car Crash in Houston, Texas

Once again, a Houston, Texas Metro Train has been inolved in an automobile crash.  The automobile and train collision happened at McKinney and Main street in downtown Houston.  Two people from the car and three people from the train were taken to area hospitals for their injuries.

Metro officials initial statement is that they do not know who was at fault but the car was seriously damaged.  An investigation is continuing.  This automobile collision with a Metro train is the third such incident in the Houston area in less than two months.

Houston Man Killed In South Texas Helicopter Crash

A helicopter crash during a hunting trip on a ranch in South Texas killed the pilot and the passenger.  The two men were riding in a Robinson R22 when they were killed.  The accident happened at a ranch about 13 miles north of Cotulla in the Dilley area.  The men were hunting hogs from the helicopter.  It is very common in South Texas to manage the hog population on a ranch by hunting them from a helicopter.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the crash victims as Brian Keith  Faglie of Uvalde and Dale Allen Jones of Houston.  Faglie was the pilot.  The National Transportation and Safety Board – NTSB - is invetigating the helicopter crash.

Pasadena, Texas School Children Injured in School Bus Wreck

A Pasadena, Texas school bus was involved in a wreck at the intersection of Genoa Red Bluff Road and Old Genoa Red Bluff Road.  A spokeswoman for the Pasadena School District confirmed that the bus was transporting children to school when the automobile collision occurred.  The bus was carrying 7th and 8th grade students from Bondy Intermediate School.

The wreck is still under investigation.  At least 15 students were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. As with most school buses, the students did not have seat belts available.

Marshall, Texas Wreck Kills One

One man was injured and another was killed in a two vehicle automobile collision in Marshall, Texas.  The crash occurred on Farm to Market Road 134 near County Road 2411.  The automobile wreck was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.  A GMC Sierra truck driven by Paul Box, an oil field worker from Kamack, crossed the center line striking a Dodge Caravan driven by Thomas Frost, a construction worker from Jefferson.

Thomas Jackson died from injuries suffered from the crash.  Paul Box suffered broken ribs but survived the impact.

Liverpool, Texas Wreck Kills Two

A woman’s sport utility vehicle collided with a pickup on Highway 35 near Liverpool, Texas.  The automobile wreck involved a Ford Expedition which drifted into oncoming traffic striking a Dodge pickup truck.  The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the automobile collision.  The initial investigation indicates the driver of the Expedition may have fallen asleep causing the wreck.  Drugs, alcohol and excessive speed have currently been ruled out as the cause of the crash.

Houston resident, Frederico Luna, and Angleton resident Jesse Parker, died at the scene.  The bodies were taken to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.

Fatal Vehicle Crash in Pearland

A horrific automobile accident in Pearland, Texas resulted in two deaths.  The automobile collision involded seven vehicles on Highway 35, also known as South Main Street, near Dixie Farm Road.  A truck traveling northbound on South Main Street entered oncoming traffic and sideswiped vehicles before having a head on collision with another truck.  The truck that was hit burst into flames killing the driver.  Another driver was killed when trying to avoid the accident.  Drivers of other vehicles involved in the wreck were injured.  The police investigating the fatal car accident have not determined if alcohol was a factor.

Harris County Deputy Constable Injured in Car Wreck

A Harris County Precint 4 deputy constable was injured in a car wreck.  The two year veteran of the force was traveling northbound in the 16700 block of Kuykendahl in Northwest Harris County when a driver made an illegal U-turn causing the automobile wreck.  The constable had to be taken to the hospital from the scene for medical treatment.
