Houston Auto Accident | Personal Injury

A major accident involving multiple fatalities has occurred on Houston’s own Gulf Freeway at El Dorado Boulevard around 12:30pm today. A black truck was seen weaving in and out of traffic on the Gulf Freeway while traveling at a high rate of speed right before it struck a gold colored truck with 2 passengers. One of the passengers was thrown from the truck and was transported and died soon after transport. The driver of the gold truck died at the scene.

Investigators mentioned that the driver of the black truck might have been under the influence of drugs due the fact that bottles of pills were found in the truck. The driver was taken into custody and is facing multiple chargers. This auto accident inconvenienced many Houston drivers  because the freeway was shut down for over 3 hours.

Elementary School Teacher Killed by Drunk Driver

A Bellville, Texas resident and long time Selman kindergarten teacher was killed in a head on collision with a drunk driver.  Shirley Mahon was traveling southbound on Highway 36 near Grubbs Road when the car she was in collided with Lorrin Scranton’s northbound truck.  The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the automobile collision.  There was heavy fog that morning and Scranton was under the influence of alcohol.

Mahon was killed on impact.  The automobile wreck caused injuries to Scranton who is a North Carolina resident.

Katy Teen Killed in Angleton Car Crash

A 14 year old girl died and a man was arrested for intoxicated manslaughter as a result of an automobile collision in Angleton, Texas.  Jeffrey Thomas, 23, was driving north on Highway 288 when he veered onto the shoulder and hit a white Toyota.  The Toyota spun onto the roadway before landing in a ditch.  The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the car wreck.

Nicole King, 14, of Katy, Texas was sitting in the rear passenger seat in the Toyota at the time of the automobile wreck.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other passengers of the Toyota were Life Flighted for medical treatment.

Haltom City Man Killed by 18 Wheeler

A Haltom City, Texas man was killed by an 18 Wheeler in Fort Worth, Texas.  The 18 wheeler crashed fell onto a pickup truck on Interstate 30 near Fielder Road in Arlington, Texas.  Arlington police investigated the automobile collision.  Initial conclusions indicate that the 18 wheeler driver did not control speed on icy roads. 

Paul Smith, 36, of Haltom City, Texas was pronounced dead at the scene.  The 18 wheeler wreck involved a total of five cars, two 18 wheelers and two pickups.  The roads were closed for several hours for the investigation.

Huntington, Texas Woman Dies in Carthage Wreck

An automobile wreck in Carthage, Texas killed a woman from Huntington, Texas.  The two vehicle crash happened at Highway 79 and County Road 107 in Carthage, Texas.  The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the automobile collision.  A truck driven by Lonterio Allison was north bound on US 79 when he failed to control speed and struck the Isuzu SUV driven by Krystal Stansbery.  The Isuze lost control, flipped and Stansberry was ejected.

Krystal Stansbery was pronounced dead at the scene.  Lonterio Allison was treated at East Texas Medical Center for his injuries.

Centerville, Texas Car Crash Kills Two

An automobile collision in Centerville, Texas killed two people.  A Honda four-door was heading northbound in I-45 north of Centerville when a 2006 Dodge pickup rear ended the Honda sending both vehicles into the median.  The Texas Department of Public Safety Investigated the automobile wreck.  Initial reports indicate that all persons involved in the car wreck were wearing seatbelts.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that there were 3,382 fatalities resulting from 2008 car accidents in Texas.

Mary Merrill, a 64 year old Kansas woman, and Cecilia Milleman, a 63 year old from Dallas, were pronounced dead at the scene.  Three other vehicle passengers suffered injuries.

Two Collinsville Construction Workers Injured By Negligent Driver

Two roadside workers were injured by a negligent driver in Collinsville, Texas.  A contractor and a Texas Department of Transportation crew were working to repair a guardrail on FM 902.  An elderly man driving a truck drove past a flagger and into the guardrail.  The truck struck a contract worker and a Texas Department of Transportation crew member.  The truck driver claimed that he blacked out before the automobile wreck.

Both construction workers suffered serious injuries.  They were transported via air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Man Charged In Fatal Houston Car Wreck

A fatal Houston, Texas car wreck has resulted in multiple criminal charges against the drunk driver.  Michael Reyna has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault from the automobile collision.  The crash happened at Hempstead Highway and Bingle Road.  The victims were in a black Honda Civic traveling westbound on Hempstead Highway near Bingle.  Reyna ran a red light on Hempstead slamming into the Honda.

One man died in the crash.  Another injured victim from the automobile collision was rushed to Ben Taub hospital.

Houston Metro Bus and Light Rail Crash Injuring 19

A Houston Metro Bus collided with a Houston Light Rail train at Main Street and St. Joseph Parkway. This is the second vehicle collision with a train within six weeks at the same location.  The bus was westbound on St. Joseph when the wreck with the northbound train happened.  Houston police and Metro officials are investigating the crash.  The investigation will include a review of video tapes, light sequences and the general layout of the collision.

The bus driver, train operator and 17 passengers were injured.  The injured drivers and passengers were taken to St. Joseph, St. Lukes, Methodist and Ben Taub General Hospital for medical treatment.

School Child Killed Walking To School

A 5-year old child was killed while walking to school in Kilgore, Texas.  The young boy suffered the wrongful death when walking to his bus stop.  The boy was identified as Jae Michael McNaughton.  A 16-year old boy – James Lane White – was also hit in the automobile collision and required medical treatment.  Jae McNaughton died of his injuries from the wreck at Longview hospital.

28-year old Jesus Martinez Soto was charged with driving without a license and criminally negligent homicide.  School zones are highly regulated with speed limits, police presence and in some cities a cell phone ban.  Even in non-school zones, drivers must be aware of the locations of bus stops and school children.
